The Nigerian Police have denied the clamping down of
vehicles over the enforcement of the Biometric Central Motor Registry,
(BCMR), which the force said will commence today.
Spokesman for the police, Mr Frank Mba says the Biometric Central
Motor Registration (BCMR) will assist in reducing crime in the country,
and that although the BCMR commences today, no deadline has been set.
The police spokesman adds that the force is still conducting an
awareness campaign on the matter and has no plans for forceful
enforcement for now.
In spite of these assurances however, some motorists are kicking against the scheme.
